Our Manufacturing

ecostore products are manufactured in Auckland, New Zealand at our state of the art facility called Ecotech. Ecotech is the only manufacturer in New Zealand with both ISO 14001 and Diamond Enviromark eco certifications.

ISO14001:2004 certification – November 2010
ISO14001 is an internationally recognised standard awarded to organisations that have designed and implemented an effective environmental management system to minimise the potentially negative effects of their operation on the environment.

Enviromark Diamond certification – December 2009
Enviro-Mark is awarded by Landcare Research, a crown institute and New Zealand’s foremost environmental research organisation. Diamond level certification is the highest of 5 levels achieved through the implementation of an internal management and audit programme to correct and drive continual improvement.

Carbon Zero manufacturing certification – 2011
A demonstration of our proactive environmental leadership with regard to carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and their impact on climate change.

Kosher manufacturing certification – 2010
Kosher certification typically relates to food which is why our licence agreement specifically relates to our dishwashing products, ensuring there is no contamination of Kosher certified food from our detergents.

Why don’t we have a similar plant here in Australia?
In 2010 New Zealand was running on 74% reusable energy. In Australia we run on just 8.6% of energy that is generated from renewable sources. It makes more sense to us and is a better use of energy to keep manufacturing in New Zealand.

Shipping by sea vs transport by truck
ecostore exports product from New Zealand to Australia by sea freight. Modern sea shippers emit 10-40g of carbon per tonne, which when compared to road freight – 150g per tonne and air freight – 500g per tonne, is small by comparison.
